Here at Southwest Washington Writers, we don’t just love to write; we also love to read.
What better way to bring both readers and writers together than with a virtual book club?
Our host for this journey is Aimee Cardenas, the vice president of the Southwest Washington Writers Conference (SWWC), who is excited to facilitate this book club via the Fable App.

Below is a kickoff note from Aimee for the present book: Write with Intention by Charlotte Chipperfield
I’m so excited to start this book. It has been sitting by my bed, gently calling to be read.
“What if the secret to writing an impactful book wasn’t found in more effort, but in slowing down to understand your true intention?”
Let’s ponder this for a quiet moment…
I don’t know about you, but as someone with a busy, rapidly transforming work and home life, this resonates so much. I have tried many things to put pen to paper or keystrokes to screen and have failed miserably. Life is just so mentally exhausting at times that there doesn’t seem to be even a wisp of energy left to grasp that writing utensil or pose my aching claws over the keyboard. Could Charlotte have a solution for us? Let’s discover together.
Here is a blurb about Charlotte from her Amazon page:
“Charlotte Chipperfield is a story strategist, developmental editor, and book coach dedicated to helping authors write with clarity, confidence, and purpose. She is the founder of Her Narrative, a creative development company that guides women authors and leaders to craft stories that inspire action and shape meaningful change.”

So, I don’t know about you, but I’m fired up about this book. Let’s go! 🎉📚🥳
She makes excellent points, and I feel encouraged and more at ease after reading the book. I’m definitely going to use some of her questions to journal. I love that she emphasizes nurturing yourself in the process. I’m glad she integrates this.
This quote grabbed my attention first:
“Just as a slingshot needs to be pulled back before it can spring forward, taking the time to intentionally assess what you want to accomplish with your writing before diving into the details of how you’re going to write can both deepen your writing experience and allow for more ease as you reach for your writing goals.”
Wow! That really made the point crystal clear. I don’t know how many times I’ve used this approach at work, in personal matters, in landscaping, and just about everywhere else. Why wasn’t I using it in my writing?
What part of the introduction grabbed you? What resonated most? What is your biggest struggle with writing? Have you found things that helped you overcome writing challenges?
Feel free to add to the discussion in the app.
