Poet Laureate

We are honored that Washington State Poet Laureate Tod Marshall will teach a workshop, “Three Notes Played on a Silver Flute,” at the Sept. 9 Southwest Washington Writers Conference.

That evening, the Robert K. and Ann J. Powers Endowed Professor in the Humanities at Gonzaga University will do a poetry reading at Centralia College. The reading, cosponsored by Centralia College and Book ‘N’ Brush in Chehalis, will begin at 7 p.m.

Marshall, a New York native who grew up in Wichita, Kansas, earned a master’s of fine arts from Eastern Washington University and a doctorate from the University of Kansas. His published books include Bugle, released in 2014 by Canarium Books, The Tangled Line (released in 2009), and Dare Say, published by University of Georgia Press. His books will be available to purchase at the poetry reading.

The Washington State Poet Laureate program, designed to build awareness and appreciation poetry throughout the state, is sponsored by Humanities Washington and ArtsWA.
